HANS BENTSEN

Hans Bentsen is a highly skilled graphic artist who specializes in intaglio. He is originally from Risøya near Risør. He lives in Kristiansand. Bentsen is educated as a radio telegraph operator, Cand. mag. in Art History, Social Anthropology and English. He has participated in several working and study communities at Norwegian and foreign printmaking workshops.

Bentsen mainly makes intaglio printing (etching, cold needle, mezzotint, photopolymerization, etc.). In addition, he also works with high pressure (wood and lino prints), drawing and painting (watercolor and acrylic).

Hans Bentsen's motifs are impressions from a long life. He grew up by the sea. He is often in a boat in the archipelago in Søgne. Bentsen has his studio at Odderøya, which is a regional cultural center in Kristiansand.

Bentsen's works have been purchased by several public institutions in Norway and Denmark. He has been purchased by the Norwegian Embassy in London, and by companies in Philadelphia and New York. He has participated in many annual or regional exhibitions. Bentsen has also participated in many solo and group exhibitions in Scandinavia, in addition to participating in many art projects and art festivals.
